Fri 11 Dec 2009

Anxiety, hypertension, depression and anger among at-risk college students can be effectively reduced my transcendental meditation. It is based on a study that is set to be published on December 2009 in American Journal of hypertension.

Co-author of the study at American university David Haaga, PhD has said “The transcendental meditation program, a widely-used standardized program to reduce stress, showed significant decreases in blood pressure and improved mental health in young adults at risk for hypertension.”

298 college students were made to participate in the study. They received instruction in transcendental meditation or were put on a wait list. The wait list acted as control group. 159 of the total 298 students were at risk of getting hypertension. Blood pressure, psychological distress, and coping abilities were measured at the beginning of the study and three months into the study by the researchers.

The students who practiced transcendental meditation had a reduction of 6.3 mm Hg high blood pressure and 4.0 Hg is low blood pressure. These reductions will help to reduce 52% the chance of getting hypertension in latter stage of life. At-risk students who practiced transcendental meditation showed very good improvement compared to the control group while measuring blood pressure, stress levels, and coping abilities.

It was estimated by experts that 18 million students are suffering from mental health problems. Life is college is very hectic. Students should adapt themselves for rapid changes, social problems, pressure to succeed, financial strains, and uncertain futures (many of which probably seem gloomy considering the current economic crisis). Over the past decade there was an increase of 50% in diagnosis of depression and an increase of 100% in using medications for psychiatric problems. Psychological stress and mental health conditions like anxiety and depression contribute to the development of high blood pressure, even in young adults. College students with blood pressure above the normal range are three times more likely to develop hypertension in later years.

It is found based on research that transcendental meditation is the best way to reduce stress as well as high blood pressure. And it also improve mental health.

“This is the first randomized, controlled study to show in young adults at risk for hypertension reductions in blood pressure that were associated with changes in psychological distress and coping. Previous research has shown that psychological distress such as anxiety, depression, and anger contribute to the development of hypertension in young adults,” said lead author Sanford Nidich, EdD, of the Institute for Natural Medicine and Prevention at the Maharishi University of Management.

The research was funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, the Abramson Family Foundation, and the David Lynch Foundation.

One third of adult population is U.S suffer from high blood pressure approximately. It is at an alarming rate that one out of three Americans. The adults who are already in the workforce have increased stress levels due to the present economic crisis. Blood pressure increased due to increased stress.

U.S Citizens should exercise more, sleep better and eat better. But most of them are pressed for time and overworked. In order to deal with this deadly scenario natural health researcher Christian Goodman has developed an easy set of exercises specifically to reduce high blood pressure naturally - no pills, no side effects. Its just a set of 3 easy exercises that can lower your blood pressure in as little as 9 minutes a day.

A Guide to Medications Used in the Management of High Blood Pressure

   Subscribe To Our Feed
Tue 8 Dec 2009

Hypertension is a widespread condition in America, but it’s also a major one. Hypertension is a risk factor for issues like stroke, heart attack and heart disease. Once a person is diagnosed with hypertension, a doctor’s primary aim is to bring down the blood pressure to the normal range so more stress on the cardiovascular system does not take place.

In some instances, the person is placed on a certain diet and fitness routine for high blood pressure control. But a good number of persons also require medication to keep their blood pressure in check. Following are a few of the most frequently recommended high blood pressure drugs utilized for this objective.

Diuretics: Among the most common high blood pressure medications first offered is frequently a water pill or diuretic. These medications come in commercial names like Esidrix or Zaroxolyn and work by removing excess fluid and salt from the circulatory system. The surplus is eliminated from your system by way of urination, which is why folks on this medicine often need to urinate more often. By eliminating the excess from the circulatory system, the heart can pump it through the system more efficiently without undue wear on this vital organ.

ACE Inhibitors and Beta Blockers: These high blood pressure drugs might be administered if diuretics aren’t effective or they could be used together with a diuretic for best results. In many instances, these medications might also be the first line of protection against high blood pressure. These medicines work by increasing blood flow via the blood vessels, consequently lowering stress on the heart.

Other Alternatives: If these high blood pressure drugs do not work, there are other alternatives to be had. Angiotensin II receptor blockers, calcium channel blockers and other drugs can be utilized when the more customary high blood pressure drugs are not effective by themselves or trigger unwanted side effects. It is highly important that a patient and doctor work in cooperation when going through the long list of high blood pressure medications to find the ones that work the best in each particular circumstance. In some cases, a patient will be fortunate enough to find the right drug right at the start. In other circumstances, it may take numerous attempts to come across the most effective therapy.

Hypertension is a serious medical condition that can have potentially life-threatening results if left untreated. Fortunately, there are many options in high blood pressure medication to get the situation in check and minimize the risk of more critical problems.

Hypertension and high blood pressure are two names for the same condition. By either name, though, it’s a serious concern. Due to our sedentary lives and easy access to junk food, the problem is escalating. And if left unchecked, it can lead to heart disease. Learn more about the condition and how to manage it at High Blood Pressure Control.

What Are The Ways To Stop Taking High Blood Pressure Naturally?

   Subscribe To Our Feed
Tue 8 Dec 2009

Often, I receive emails from my clients, letting me know that their lives have been dramatically helped by using one of my programs. Not only does their health improve but they’ve also written, letting me know their relationships are stronger.

I love the way that my programs allow me the interaction with my clients on a personal level.

Most clients ask the same question many times. Can I get rid of hypertension by using only your program?

Many of them can use my natural program and can get rid off hypertension medicine. A simple answer can be yes.

The method should be to take my natural program slowly. You should always consult your physician before stopping the prescribed medicine for hypertension.

When you are confirmed that the blood pressure is starting to reduce you can speak to your doctor about stopping the hypertension medicine. After beginning the program you can take your blood pressure daily and can record it.

Just don’t be disappointed when your doctor is not fully backing you to stop the medicine for a natural remedy. Most of the doctors do not endorse a method if it does not contain medicines. The best thing to do is keep recording your blood pressure daily and you will have your proof to convince your doctor.

The best thing is to stay on the natural program. And you can realize that your doctor will lower your medicine for blood pressure.

As you keep following the program, you should see that your doctor will eventually stop prescribing medication after he or she sees the results.

The first exercise will take you through rythmical walking. Your brain and emotions will begin to relax and allow you to focus better.

The next step is you will be trained to find the feelings that makes you anxious. Then the program will help to remove it from your system in a organized and calm way.

In the third exercise, the focus will be to relax your entire body. While the exercises may seem simple, they are effective.

Over 75% of my customers are able to reduce their blood pressure within a week. And 90% of them were able to reduce it in a matter of one month time. With the help all these exercises one can achieve the desired result in less than a week.

High Blood Pressure and Depression, Is There Connection?

   Subscribe To Our Feed
Mon 30 Nov 2009

He was kind of joking. A person recently received an email from a person asking me if there was possible a link between depression and high blood pressure.

Both ideas have been studied; hypertension leading to depression as well as depression leading to high blood pressure. Research says there is a link between the two

It has been proven that people suffering from depression are three times more likely to to develop hypertension than those who don’t suffer depression.

People with depression are less likely to take treatment. What makes it worse is the tend to over eat, smoke and drink too much.

But as strange as it may seem. Even people suffering depression that lived otherwise healthy live, also were more likely to suffer high blood pressure.

The change in hormones due to anxiety and depression can be a huge factor in causing high blood pressure. Researchers have confirmed this.

Another factor are medications taken for depression which can have high blood pressure as side effects.

Results from research shows that there is link between depression and high blood pressure.

Let’s see what makes hypertension to cause depression.

High blood pressure can cause depression because the medication taken for hypertension will cause depression as side effect.

Once again, we see that in order to solve a problem we create a new problem.

Although the person initially was kind of joking, it’s no question he was right assuming there may be a connection between the two conditions.

There is no wonder hypertension and depression can therefore also be caused by stress. As stress is the major cause for all these problems.

Practices that can help high blood pressure regardless of the cause:

some people see a spike in blood pressure after just a drink or two, and in those cases drinking is not recommended at all. Therefore, you should stop excessive drinking.

Do not smoke. Smoking create many problems including increased blood pressure.

Eat good healthy food. Raw vegetables and fruits should be the first on your list.

My natural blood pressure exercise program and weight loss breeze - which uses simple exercises to increase the oxygen level in the body and improve metabolism. I have created several natural health guides.

What Are You Doing About Your High Blood Pressure?

   Subscribe To Our Feed
Fri 27 Nov 2009

Blood pressure is called “hypertension” in the medical world. When your blood pressure is consistently above the ideal 120/80, you are generally considered “hypertensive”. A high blood pressure is genetically predisposed in some individuals, but aside from genes, there are other factors that also contribute to it.

You should know what hypertension really is in order to understand high blood pressure or hypertension. What is actually measured when your blood pressure is taken is the amount of pressure your blood is applying on the walls of the blood vessels. When the number is high then it automatically mean more blood is forced against those walls.

Imagine a balloon with water being filled in it. When more water is being put in the balloon, it stretches out to contain the waterup to a certain point. You will see the balloon thinning out as it gets fuller, and eventually breaks if you continue putting water into it.

when you allow your blood pressure to get high and if it stays there without checking. Your blood vessels will also suffer the same fate. They might also burst. If it happens to be a brain vessel then you might suffer a stroke. If it’s a vessel that carries blood to the heart then you might have a heart attack. Where the burst happens in the blood vessel determines how severe it is.

Blood pressure is rightly called the Silent Killer. With blood pressure will feel that you are very fine one day without any symptoms but the pressure increases suddenly that it gets life threatening the next day.

The bottom number is called diastolic pressure. It measures the blood pressure when your heart is at rest and in between beats. The top number of blood pressure is called systolic pressure, which measures the pressure within the blood vessels as it pumps the blood out.

With high blood pressure the rate of rush at which the blood leaves the heart next might be fatal. Among the two the diastolic is seen as more critical. If your bottom number is above 80 when your heart is at rest then it means extreme pressure is given to your vessels.

What are the best ways to reduce your blood pressure. If you are overweight then it’s suggested to lose weight. If you are very stressed then you can avoid stress. Stop smoking. And if you are idle for most of the time then exercise a lot.

Another thing that you can do, and this is a little easier but just as effective and even quicker, is do the exercises in my Hypertension Program. My Hypertension Program will reduce your chances of heart attack or stroke by making your blood pressure at low levels. The best part is that is does not require you to change your lifestyle or spend hours sweating in a gym.

It is created with simple and easy exercise that you can do at ease. The result you get is life saving.
